Exclusive interview with Sheriina (Actual name – Sherin Sam), Indian Actress

Thank you for the interview. 

Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?

Hi Everyone!! I am Sheriina (Actual name – Sherin Sam), a artist / actress presently working in Tamil cine-industry.

I was born in Kerala, and brought up in Bangalore and Kuwait, Since my childhood days, I have always been longing to become a pilot.

None knows what future holds for you. Likewise Once, while in graduation,

me and  my friends went to a shopping mall where Femina Miss India South audition was happening.

One of my close friend nudged me to attend the audition for fun sake. To our great surprise, I got selected  one among 14 contestants.

Since then, I got several opportunities to meet people like Marc Robinson, Prasad Biddappa who said that I possessed much more caliber to participate in  international shows.

They even made me participate in  the Ford Super Model of India world and won the crown as Grazia Ford Supermodel of India World, thereafter

I Represented India in Ford superb model world and Selected as one among top 10 finalists.

This was indeed a great breakthrough into the industry.

Over the course of time, I walked in various shows like Lakme India fashion week, Will’s India fashion week,  Kingfisher, Lather Shows, been show topper in Various shows.

Did runway shows for Various famous designers like Tarun talini, Sharavan , Neeta Lulla, Nishika Lulla, Krishna Mehta, Asif Shah, Sanchita,Varun Bahl- Karan Johar etc,.

Above shows brought me in chances  to work in adv shoot and print shoot for Malabar Gold , The Chennai silks , Kankatala , Vijaya milks, Pothy’s KCP cements and many more.

My interest gradually began to incline towards acting and I started attempting to venture into Cine industry.

With a huge courage, confidence and a great support extended by my parents, wonderful brother and friends, I made up my mind to become an actress in cine industry, That’s when I realized I had taken a decision to  shift to Chennai, looking for movie opportunities simultaneously.

I took up many ad films and designer shoots essentially I kept myself busy with all activities I liked to do. This eventually evolved me into what I am now. 

Last three years of being at Chennai taught me wonderful life lessons and gave me a striking opportunity to meet Mr. Samuthirakani Sir while in an ad film shoot.

As a stroke of luck, looking at my performance in the ad, he checked if I was interested in acting in his upcoming new project.

I was awestruck and glad to become a part of the movie getting to be directed by a legendary director like Samuthrakani. Thus, the miracle happened! Prior to this film, I have also acted in a movie named “Anjaamai” directed by Dir. Subburam Sir, (Co-Director for Director Jayam Raja Sir  and Linguswamy Sir in  movies like ThaniOruvan, M. Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi, Paiyaa etc.) which is awaiting a release. I shared screen with leading actors like Vidarth Sir and Rahaman Sir.

Besides,  I own and run a Highend car service station named “Sayara motors” in K. Narayanapura, Bangalore for 5 years now. I have a highly equipped Photography studio named “ UVI photostudio “ in Virugambakkam Chennai.

I do have few futuristic plans to get into food business, down the line.

What could you tell us about your character Mahalakshmi in Vinodhaya Sitham?

Sshhh! Secret. You will get to see that within a couple of days. Just for fun! Never mind.She is a humble, docile and polite in nature  person who has been brought up at the US .

The character in the film represents one such girl who empathize with her boyfriend and his family.The character also stands immune to few social myths related to love and marriage.

I am very certain that characterization would be simply wonderful when you see on screen.

What did you interest when you read the script ?

Intrigued by the way of narration by director Samuthrakani sir, I was almost in cloud-nine to realise the fact that I form one of the most important part in the script. After having listened to the script, I felt as though

I have read a close-to-heart novel and I wasvery certain that the movie would be an exotic treat for those who love to watch feel-good movies.

This movie also bags quite a lot of message oriented towards how to lead a meaningful and happy life.

How was the filming with Munishkanth, Thambi Ramaiah, Samuthirakani........... and with the Director Samuthirakani?

I was thoroughly thrilled and excited to have shared screen with two national-award winners Samithirakani sir and Thambi Ramaiah sir.

It was a life time experience to act and learn through work.

I feel blessed and highly privileged to get tuned by such great artist, that too in a very short span of my career.

Muniskanth sir, of course, is an wonderful actor whose comical sense always sparked the whole set to burst into laughter both on and off the shooting.

How long did the filming for this movie?

My shooting was scheduled for 8 days.

How did you prepare for your role ?

As a matter of fact, I wasn’t prepared at all for my role. My director insisted me to free up my mind and come totally afresh to the set because he wanted to extract natural self of me in the shoot.

Director sir kept guiding me every now and then in the shoot. Whenever I digress from the path of good acting, I would instantly be instructed and corrected by him, co-artists, DOP Ekambaram sir and rest of the entire team, quite similar to a child being straightened out by the parents and family.

I am grateful to every one of them who made me successfully complete this project.

I know it is difficult to predict what the future holds for movies, TV series, etc. for the moment with Covid-19, but what is your next challenge / project?

Like I said earlier, I have done a movie with actor Vidarth Sir  and Rahaman Sir that was directed by Dir. Subburam Sir.

I am eagerly awaiting the movie release. I am currently devoting my leisure time in learning skills required for acting with a hope of getting more and more oppurunities in the film-industry.

In spite of the involvement in acting, I found my passion for entrepreneurship, as well and so I put myself intoworks pertaining to my on-going businesses.
