Exclusive interview with  Petey Gibson, American Actor, Writer and Producer

By Jean-Paul Eliard
The 05 March 2025

I'm glad to do this interview.

Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?

Yes, hello! I'm an actor, producer, and writer living in Los Angeles, currently playing Head Forensic Anthropologist C Hemingway on Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

What did you like in your character of C Hemingway?

Oh gosh I just love him - so incredibly capable yet quite nervous and clumsy around people. When I first auditioned for the role, I got the note that he's meant to be "more comfortable amongst the dead than the living", and I've stuck to that! But he pushes through that social discomfort a lot because he's also a pretty emotional and caring guy, and is always rooting for the best possible outcome.

What did you like when you read the script?
I love the fast-paced nature of the show, and the depth of the emotions we are able to jump into. I also really love the ensemble nature of the film - once the characters start breaking down the doors on the case, best idea wins, no matter who on the team it comes from.

You are a Head Forensic Anthropologist.
How did you prepare for your role?

There's a short video on an forensic artist named Colin McNally who does incredible work with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), that was invaluable to me as a starting point.
I watched it multiple times, then sort of went down the internet rabbit hole on this work, which is actually very specialized and pretty rare.
On set, I made sure to work alongside our props department to understand how my tools work, and I do a fair amount of googling on the big science-y words that easily fall out of C's mouth.
Beyond that type of prep, I let my beard get a little wild. I thought - hey this guy doesn't take the time to shave - he works in a basement!

Are you watching during the broadcast?
I am! I love my pals that I make the show with and I'm always curious to see how it all comes together.

How is the shooting with Scott Caan, Dania Ramirez, Ryan Broussard .....?
It's been lovely, especially as we continue to expand the MCU team and bring more folks in.
At the end of last season, we had a big wedding episode, and it was a blast to get us all together. I'm hoping to get back on set sooner rather than later to do it all again.

Where is the show shot?
We shoot in gorgeous Vancouver - how lucky are we?

When and why did you choose to be an actor?
I loved performing in high school with our Drama Club but had brutal stage fright - I choked at every audition.
When I was in my 20s, I started performing a lot in variety shows and creating my own work, which slowly grew my confidence and desire for it.
By the end of my 20s, I knew I wanted to pursue acting more seriously so I went to LA to study comedy with The Groundlings - and here I am doing drama! You never know where life will take you.

What is your next challenge / project?

I produce live shows in Los Angeles centered around the trans and queer community here, and have several upcoming projects I'm very excited about, including the amazing
The Joy Who Lived festival starting March 31, and the 7 year anniversary of drag king show Them Fatale. I'm also in pre-production on a short film I wrote and will star in. Keep an eye out!

Do you wish to add something ?
I'm so pleased you reached out, and I can't wait to check out the Season 3 premiere alongside you!
Sending peace and resistance to you all - keep your heads up.
