Hi Auroshikha, I'm glad to do this interview.
Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?
A girl from Tezpur, India with dreams as vast as the horizon. Moved to Bangalore in 2011, and now thriving in Mumbai.
From indie films to international stages, every experience has been such a lesson. I am so grateful for the opportunities and the continuous hustle that drives me forward .
What did you like in your character of Durwa?
Durva, as a primary cast, brings in shades of grey and forces the audience to confront the conflict between what is conventionally accepted and the will of an individual.
She is confrontational and focused on securing her day to day livelihood above all.
What did you like when you read the script of this movie?
I’m deeply gratified to have
contributed to this project. As an actor, I seek roles that are unconventional and pose significant challenges.
This is exactly what captivated me about my role in the film. I was portraying a character that was starkly different from me and bringing that character to life was demanding and immensely
gratifying.
Konstantin provided me with clarity and vision, allowing me to grasp Durwa holistically.
How did you prepare for your role?
My director Konstantin Bojanov
meticulously outlined the character sketch for ‘Durwa’, my assigned role, providing invaluable clarity for my preparation.
The character, with its nuanced shades of gray, demanded a delicate balance.
I dedicated substantial effort to understanding and embodying this complexity. Rigorous preparation became my daily ritual, as I sought to convey Durwa’s inner turmoil and contradictions
convincingly.
In addition to my personal exploration,
we engaged in workshops that allowed me to fine-tune the character’s tone.
These sessions were enlightening, shaping my interpretation and helping me find the right emotional pitch.
Makeup and costume played their part
too making subtle adjustments, layer by layer, until I became Durwa.
The synergy between these elements culminated in a perfect portrayal, breathing life into Durwa’s existence on screen.
Are you watching during the broadcast?
I had the pleasure of watching my film
premiere at Cannes, and was also part of the Indian premiere as part of the MAMI 2024 festival.
So I have had the opportunity to sit among the audience and look at the journey through their lens.
I am currently in my home country -
India, and if there were a way for me to watch the broadcast, I would surely love to.
How is the shooting with Anasuya Sengupta, Omara..... and the director Konstantin Bojanov?
It was a pleasure working with
Konstantin. Not only did he write a beautiful story, but every character in the film had a purpose.
From the beginning, Konstantin was very clear with the script and what he expected from each character.
As a director, he is exceptionally calm and composed in addition to being very approachable. Whenever I had any doubts about my character, he was always there to provide guidance.
I had a great time working with both Anusuya Sengupta and Omara. I am very happy and proud of all the adulation and appreciation the film and the entire team has received globally.
Where is the movie shot?
We primarily shot in Nepal which rests at the foothills of the majestic Himalayan mountain range.
How long did the shooting take?
The entire shoot duration was for 2 months.
The Shameless has been selected for the Cannes Film Festival 2024 in the "Un Certain Regard" category! What memory do you have of it?
Premiering my film on such a
prestigious platform and in front of global audiences will always be the most amazing part.
But other than that, it was a privilege to meet so many professionals from across the world, learn about new cultures and passions, talk about new ideas and film making.
Meeting people from diverse walks of life and learning from each other's experiences, making genuine connections was amazing.
When and why did you choose to be an actress?
My journey began with tapping my feet; it truly all started with dancing.
It was only during my graduation year at Mount Carmel, Bangalore, that I first got the taste of acting within the dramatic society, and I haven’t looked back since.
I knew I had found my calling. FTII happened soon after that and the rest, as they say, is history.
What is your next challenge / project?
I am glad you asked because my film 'Krishna Arjun,' which is also the world's first double role single take feature film, released on YouTube last month in Mar '25. I am thrilled at how the audience is receiving the film and appreciating my character.
On upcoming projects, I am eagerly looking forward to my next web series, which is soon to release on Amazon MX Player.
Do you wish to add something ?
This is a creative playground, and yes
there will be multiple stumbles and a few falls too. But each stumble and every fall will have a story to tell and come with the opportunity to sharpen your skills.
So whenever you encounter one, learn and get right back up. Just remember to always believe in yourself and be your number one sponsor.
Know that you are the best and charge forward.
Never give up on your dreams.
Thank you very much for your interview Auroshikha I wish you all the best
