Hi Ekavali, I'm glad to do this interview,
Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?
I'd say I am an Indian actor driven to explore diverse characters with genuine honesty, always aiming to break free from typecasting.
Each role is a journey, offering me a richer understanding of life and the human experience.
What did you like in the character of Anna Mathew? And when you read the script of this movie?
I was drawn to the role because it carried a beautiful balance of vulnerability and strength.
A character who, even while confronting her mortality, remains determined to inspire her husband .
There was a tenderness in the way Akshay had written the character.
The role required emotional honesty .I was drawn to that.
How did you prepare for Anna Mathews role.
I didn’t prepare for it in the conventional sense.
The clarity in the writing allowed the character to reveal herself naturally.
My performance was entirely instinctive, shaped by the emotional honesty.
How was it working with Anupam
Kher?
Working with Mr Anupam Kher was rewarding, and I'd say fairly effortless.
His experience and ease on set created a natural flow, and we managed to get the scene right in just one or two takes.
How was it working with the director Akshay Roy?
Working with Akshay Roy was a
pleasure.
He’s a calm and thoughtful director who treats each actor with genuine care. He’s always open to questions, and his clear vision enables actors to perform better.
How did you get this role
?
Shanoo Sharma, the film's casting director cast me as Anna.
Shanoo's conviction and vision are always spot on and she is known to be unwavering in her decisions.
One afternoon, she called and simply
said, "I want you to play Anna. This role is meant for you."
That was all it took. Within minutes, I was on a call with Akshay, discussing the love and friendship between Vijay and Anna.
And after Akshay narrated the story and briefed me about the character I knew this role was special.
You won an * award this year
?
What do Awards mean to you?
Awards certainly hold value and serve
as a source of inspiration, but the real reward lies in the satisfaction of personal growth with every role and experience.
As an actor, the true worth comes from the depth gained through each performance.
I value being appreciated whether it's an award or a word of praise from a member of the audience.
What are the key factors you
consider when choosing a role, regardless of its size?
When it comes to choosing a role, the size isn’t always the primary factor, rather, it’s about the role’s resonance, the impact it brings to the story, and the creative satisfaction it offers.
My choices have never been dominated by size, but have always been driven by the connection it has with the story it serves.
If smaller roles didn't have an impact ,I wouldn't be doing this interview.
You reached out to me for an interview because Anna's character moved you.Isnt it ?(Smile)
Thank you for the interview Jean.-Paul
