Hi Jessie I'm glad to do this interview.
Thank you so much. Happy to be able to answer some questions for you and your readers.
Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?
Hola a todos! I'm Jessie Camacho, an actor, television host, avid gardener, and Latina from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
What could you tell us about your character Gloria?
Gloria is Tigger (Kim Cattrall) & Bill's (David Rasche) regular waitress at the White Oaks Country Club. She's been working there for years and knows the family very well.
What interests you when you have read the script about this movie?
Interesting enough, I didn't read the script prior to being offered the role.
I auditioned for the
How did you get this role?
I remember I was going to Sarasota that weekend and was ready to walk out of the house when I received the audition.
So, I changed my clothes to match the scene, recorded the audition at home, and submitted it via self tape to Casting Director Sig de Miguel.
At the time I didn't know that it was a Sebastian Maniscalco movie. Later,
I found out through my agent at EAM
Inc, that I had booked the role opposite Robert De Niro. Needless to say, dream come true!
How did you prepare for your role?
I memorized my lines forward and backwards, but in a comedy like this, you have to be prepared for everything.
The scene kept changing with every entrance due to the amazing improvisation by the actors.
There were even some Italian words thrown in there. I really hope there are some outtakes of that footage. It's hilarious!
How is the shooting with Robert De Niro, Sebastian Maniscalco, Leslie Bibb........ and the director Laura Terruso?
Incredible! To be there and watch all these amazing actors play, and I say play, because it was so much fun, but performing their craft over and over and changing it every so slightly to make it better each time.
I didn't want it to end. The Director Laura Terruso was very calm, soft spoken,
it felt very organic. I hope I get to work with her again sometime in the future.
The set was very professional,
especially because we shot around the time of Covid. I was in awe of the kindness of Kim Cattrall, Doug Rasche, and Brett Dier. They were exceptional!
Where is the movie shot ?
The movie was shot in Alabama at a
country club that I only found with GPS numbers. So needless to say, it's very secluded.
About My Father is a comedy.
Was it difficult to keep your serious during filming?
Not for me. I was in front of these A list actors and I was not about to have a take ruined by me, but there were some great laughs.
I read on your resume, you were a Deputy Sheriff.
If I'm not mistaken The Sheriff is elected by the townspeople.
why did you become deputy sheriff?
Yes, I was a Deputy Sheriff in Orlando Florida. I was not the main Sheriff, which is elected. I was a cop on a regular beat.
My area of patrol was the east side of Orlando, which is near UCF,
(University of Central Florida), the
When and why did you choose to be an actress?
I've always been on some sort of stage. I did pageants as a young girl. Then, started dancing in school and outside of school. I did modeling.
Then, became a cop and thought that was it, but then I auditioned for the reality TV show Survivor, and decided to give the stage another chance.
I started officially as a television host for a few Spanish and English television shows in Miami.
Then I moved to Los Angeles and continue to host different shows there until
an opportunity came to begin
auditioning for TV and Film. I never looked back.
What is your next challenge / project?
There are a few things that haven't aired yet that I shot last year and this year.
I had a role in Justified: City Primeval on FX, which should come out this summer. Also, a role on an Apple TV project, where I play a cop, but can't really talk about that yet.
I haven't finished shooting the movie
Jekka the Unsanctified, which started shooting in Puerto Rico last year. There's a few others that I can't mention yet, but stay tuned....
