Exclusive interview with Pratik Gandhi, Indian Actor

By Jean-Paul Eliard
The 20 August 2025

Hi Pratik, I am very happy to do this interview.

Could you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?

I’m Pratik Gandhi — an actor who began his journey in theatre, moved to Mumbai in 2004, and has since explored stories across stage, television, and film.
My work spans from Gujarati theatre to Hindi web series and films, but no matter the medium, I see myself first and foremost as a storyteller.

What do you like when you read the script?

I look for honesty in the writing — a heartbeat in the story. If the characters feel real and their journey evokes emotion or sparks thought, I know I want to be a part of it.

And what did you think when you discovered your character Vishnu Shankar?

When I first understood my character in Saare Jahan Se Accha: The Silent Guardians, I felt a deep sense of responsibility.
This wasn’t just fiction — it carried the weight of real emotions and values. I wanted to make him believable, relatable, and human.

Can you tell us how you got your role?

The team approached me with the script, and after reading it, I was instantly drawn in.
The premise, the setting, and the complexity of the character were compelling. We had some discussions about the vision for the role, and everything aligned perfectly.

How was the shooting with Kunal Thakur, Anoop Singh, Rajat Kapoor..........?

It was wonderful. Each of them brings a unique energy to the set — Kunal’s warmth, Anoop sir’s immense experience, Rajat sir’s calm and insightful approach. Working with them felt like a masterclass and a reunion of friends at the same time.

Where is this TV serie shot?

The series was shot across various locations in India such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai as well as in Budapest - that captured the authenticity and mood of the story — from bustling cities to quieter, more atmospheric spaces.

Do you watch yourself during the broadcast?

I usually prefer to watch the work after it’s released, not during filming.

It gives me a little distance to view it as part of the audience and reflect on the story as a whole rather than just my performance.

When and why did you choose to become an actor? Is it a film, an actor..........?

I’ve loved performing since my school days.

Theatre became my first home as an artist, and watching great actors transform on stage inspired me endlessly.

There was never really a “decision day” — acting simply became the way I could express myself best.

What is your next challenge / project?

I’m exploring a mix of theatre and screen work — including projects that bring lesser-known historical and contemporary stories to life.

Each role is a new challenge, and I try to pick ones that push me out of my comfort zone.

Apart from Sare Jahan Se Accha on Netflix, I am gearing up for

Gandhi by Hansal Mehta at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival)

Ideabaaz (Reality show on Startups) on Z5 & Zee TV - Releasing Soon in October

Screening of Phule in 11th India Film Festival of Alberta (IFFA 2025) in Calgary

Screening of Ghamasaan in CSAFF (Chicago South Asian Film Festival)

Do you have anything else you'd like to add?

Just that storytelling, whether on stage or screen, is about connecting people. I’m grateful for audiences everywhere — including yours — who welcome stories from different cultures and languages with open hearts.an extra layer of perspective & enjoyment to the viewing experience.

Thank you very much for your interview Pratik, I wish you the best.

My preview :

Saare Jahan Se Accha (Netflix) is a captivating Indian spy series set in the 1970s.
All the actors are excellent, with a special mention for Pratik Gandhi, who plays a spy with remarkable finesse.

Saare Jahan Se Accha is a true lesson in creating a compelling yet deeply human spy drama. Set against the tense backdrop of Indo-Pakistani intelligence operations, this series offers a captivating experience.

My mark :
09 / 10
