Hi Stavroula, I'm glad to do this interview.
Hello Jean-Paul, it’s my pleasure. Thank you so much for having me in cinema-movietheater.com.
Can you introduce yourself to the visitors of cinema-movietheater.com?
I am a Greek actress with a passion for dance and physical theatre, living in London and Paris.
Since I graduated drama school in 2021, I have had the opportunity to act in a few short films. I have also appeared in a couple of period Greek series.
I work in French, English and Greek. My first time on a feature film set was last summer, while filming ‘’Dracula : A Love Tale’’.
What did you like in your role of Dancer? And when you read the script of Dracula?
I really enjoyed the fusion of a modern
and a period dance piece. Knowing the original story, I initially had imagined I would have to prepare for a strictly period choreography performance.
It was something new and more fun in the end.
How did you prepare for your role?
We had intense dance rehearsals, I
worked on bringing out two different kind of energies, being both a Russian and a Spanish delegate in the ball.
Because the costumes were so voluminous and heavy, I practiced the dancing with some weight on me! Also, I knew we would dance in front of a blue screen, so I had fun creating the ‘’imaginary venue’’
in my head.
Are you watching during the broadcast?
Of course I am !
I have been abroad since the release date and I really can’t wait to see it, going back to France!
I’m so curious about watching the final result after the editing and the whole post – production process .
Also, as an emerging actress and dancer it’s very important for me to see my work in it.
How is the shooting with Christoph Waltz, Caleb Landry Jones, Matilda De Angelis.......and the Director Luc Besson?
The director’s instructions were very precise and clear. It’s amazing to work with someone who knows exactly what they want.
Being on set with such great actors was
impressive and I found Caleb Landry Jones’ approach of the character unique.
The work of every single person included was so efficient that I could focus on my task while enjoying every moment.
Where is the movie shot?
We shot in Paris , a place I live in
and love so much !
It’s wonderful to see international productions take place where you live and to be given the chance to meet and work with people from all over the world, so
I think that it’s brilliant that they chose this location.
You are actress, dancer, and physical theatre performer.
What do you like about these 3 professions?
The fact that they allow me to work
guided by my impulse.
Acting targets emotions, reflection of society, compassion.
Dancing targets visual harmony, sometimes reflection of nature.
Physical theatre targets communication through the body ; playing between movement and stillness.
And all three target the same thing : telling a story in a truthful way.
They require precision and discipline but also the courage to embrace your own vulnerability as human.
When and why did you choose to be an actress, dancer and physical theatre performer ?
I chose to be an actress when I moved
to Paris to pursue professional theatre training.
After completing my BA in English literature, I was determined to do what I wanted since I was little.
I was obsessed with playing , like all children.
Being an actor doesn’t allow me to take myself seriously and it’s like a part of me never grows up.
I had a dance background, focusing on the body as my main interpretation tool also helped me find my place, my strength in the industry as a foreign artist working abroad.
What is your next challenge / project?
I currently have three short films in
post production.
One of them is written by me and it is in French; it is my first script so I am a little more excited than usual !
I also have a thriller filmed in London and a mystery filmed in Paris, both in English.
I have a desire to act in Greek lately, so the projects I’m auditioning for next are in this language .
Do you wish to add something ?
